Visual Studio Links #65

by dstokes on August 14, 2008

My latest in a series of the weekly, or more often, summary of interesting links I come across related to Visual Studio.

The Visual C++ Team blog has a post about IconWorkshop Lite, which is available as a free download.

Greg Duncan posted a link to the release of TFS Search Work Items Visual Studio Addin v2.1.  Greg also posted a summary of good VS2008 SP1 links including a patch removal tool to get rid of SP1 Beta stuff that will cause your install to fail.

Raymond Chen is doing his CLR Week 2008 and started with some good links about C# anonymous functions.  Raymond also discussed the implementation of C# iterators and its consequences Part 1 and Part 2.

Scott Hanselman posted one of the better VS2008/.NET 3.5 SP1 posts.  He summarizes the changes and goes into some things I had not read yet about ASP.NET changes.

Sara Ford’s Tip of the Day #290 explains how to turn on optimization for a build.

The Web Developer Tools Team posted an explanation of how to debug a web site with a host header (running IIS 6 or 5.1 and .NET 3.5 SP1).

US ISV Developer Evangelism Team blog announced that a Training Kit is Available for .NET 3.5 Enhancements.

Brad Abrams announced that .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 allows managed code to be launched from a network share (with local permissions).

The Visual C++ Team posted a summary of Bugs fixed in MFC in Visual Studio 2008 SP1.

Sara Ford’s Tip of the Day #291 explains what warning message is suppressed by the Warn If No User Code On Launch option.

Jonathon Wood has created a new video – How Do I:  Use the Cform View Class?

Carlos Quintero posted two good articles for add-in developers:

Hilton Giesenow has created a new video – How Do I:  Create a Basic Language Service Using the Managed Babel System?
