Visual Studio Hacks

Visual Studio Links #31

by dstokes on May 22, 2008

My latest in a series of the weekly, or more often, summary of interesting links I come across related to Visual Studio.

Carlos Quintero posted links to help solve a System.UnauthorizedAccessException when registering a Visual Studio add-in for COM Interop.  This is actually not specific to Visual Studio and will help with all cases of registering .Net assemblies for COM interop.

Visual Studio 2008 KB:  Also applies to 2005.  Visual Studio Configuration Manager does not provide a Scrollbar.  No fix is available but some incredibly lame workarounds are proposed.  I usually don’t have that many configs so I’ve never seen this problem.

Via Jason Haley:  Tess posted a good article – DebugDiag 1.1 or Windbg, which one should I use? and how do I gather memory dumps.

Greg Duncan posted a link to an article written by Grant Holliday discussing running integration testing within TeamBuild.

Jonathon Wood has created a video titled – How Do I:  Create Context-Sensitive Menus in MFC?

Norm Estabrook is asking for feedback and has posted a link to the Visual Studio and .NET Framework Developer Documentation Survey.

Brad Abrams has posted links to more information on the .NET Framework Client Profile work in the 3.5 SP1 Beta.

Scott Guthrie has posted his latest summary of good links – May 20th Links:  ASP.NET, ASP.NET AJAX, .NET, Visual Studio, Silverlight, WPF.

Sara Ford’s Tip of the Day #221 discusses sorting objects and members in the Object Browser.

US ISV Developer Evangelism Team:

Scott Hanselman discusses a problem he had – Vista 64-bit Blue Screens with INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR Immediately After Installing VMWare Player.
