Visual Studio Links #18

by dstokes on April 10, 2008

My latest in a series of the weekly, or more often, summary of interesting links I come across related to Visual Studio.

DiveDeeperBlog has a blog post about VSPackage Command Handlers and proposes a way to make the code a little easier.

US ISV Developer Evangelism Team announced the release of the Visual C++ 2008 Feature Pack.  New MFC components are included.  For instance, Office 2007 Ribbon Bar, Visual Studio like docking functionality, user-customizable menus, and other goodness.  Also includes a link to the Channel 9 video discussing the new updates to MFC.

Via Steve Pietrek:  Ilya Ryzhenkov has posted a list of plugins to ReSharper.

The VSX Team has posted a video of a conversation between Ken Levy and Quan To discussing the development process for the VS SDK and upcoming releases.

Sara Ford’s Tip of the Day #191 discusses the ability to drag and drop code on to the Toolbox General tab.  I saw a presenter at VSLive doing this and was stunned because I had no idea this functionality existed.  This is a very cool tip.

Scott Guthrie announced the availability of a new preview of ASP.NET Dynamic Data.

Via Steve Pietrek:  Mark Seemann explains how to start a Visual Studio 2008 PowerShell, the equivalent of a Visual Studio 2008 Command Prompt but in PowerShell.

The US ISV Developer Evangelism Team has posted links to several screencasts about language features in C# 2 and 3.  These were done by Stuart Celarier.

VS 2008 KB:  Hotfix is available.  Error message when a user-defined function specifies the data source in a data-driven unit test in Visual Studio 2008 Team System: “The unit test adapter failed to connect to the data source or to read the data”
